Schneider Electric expanded the range of its smart pumping solutions, under its automation portfolio, with the launch of AltivarTM, ModiconTM, and MagelisTM pumping products. The new devices, when combined with MachineStruxureTM automation solutions, helps build and manage flexible, connected and efficient pumping systems across industries such as infrastructure, building, water and wastewater, oil and gas, and food and beverage.
A “smart pumping” system has the ability to combine greater efficiencies with sensors and software to regulate and control flow and pressure. The solutions ensure business profitability by collecting and managing real-time information on system performance and enable organisations to make better business decisions.
Energy efficiency is a key concern in Indian industrial sector as a quarter of the energy consumed by industrial motors is used by pumps. It is estimated that close to 75% of pump systems in India are oversized, many by over 20%. Further, electricity costs account for 40% of the total cost of ownership (TCO) of a pump. In addition to this, the Indian government’s efforts to improve infrastructure, water supply and sanitation services along with recovery in real estate construction are expected to further drive the demand and use of pumping solutions.
