Zuora, a US-based subscription management software firm, has opened its new Chennai office- making the city and India the largest talent population for the company outside of the US.

The company did not disclose the amount of investment, but said that India is set to be a key hub for product and engineering talent for Zuora, which now has around 400 people in India spread across Chennai and Bengaluru.

“We’ve grown our team in India 3x in the last two years and plan to expand hiring in the coming years. India, with 450+ employees, is a strategic talent market for Zuora, and the biggest hub outside the US,” Zuora founder and CEO Tien Tzuo said. A lot of the critical work around our revenue management and collection products are driven by teams here, he added.

Zuora, which counts the New York Times, Caterpillar, GoPro, Zoom, and others as clients, first entered Chennai with the acquisition of a bootstrapped company Leeyo, back in 2017.
