Godrej Interio, India’s leading furniture brand, is all set to strengthen its presence in the office furniture segment in the eastern region. Adding to innovations in their extensive catalogue, Godrej Interio has launched its first Social Office experience center’ in Eastern India. The experience center spread across 3400 sq. ft. area at Godrej Bhawan in Salt Lake, Kolkata has been created to give a first-hand experience of the social workspace.

This strengthening of presence was necessitated in Kolkata and eastern zone market owing to presence of a large working population. The contemporary workforce also prefers spaces that not only give a productive, enjoyable work life, it also provides an opportunity to socialize with colleagues during and after work.

A recent Godrej Interio Workspace and Ergonomic Research Cell study revealed how the transforming nature of work and a younger workforce are altering workplaces, from pure ‘work hubs’ into ‘social hubs’. Today, workplaces have transformed into spaces that provide an enjoyable work life as well as the opportunity to socialize with their colleagues during and after work. Basis these insights, we developed the concept of Social Office. The workplace must align with the expectations of the employees, the way today’s modern workers function is very different, and the workplace must provide them the enabling environment they need to be engaged. Allowing space for the individual aspirations of these employees will help them be highly productive.

It also found the sedentary nature of work, as well as the increasing number of hours spent in the workplace, is causing adverse effects on employee health. The Social Office understands the direct link between employee health and productivity and creates an environment that supports the health and well-being of the employees.

Anil Mathur, Chief Operating Officer, Godrej Interio said, “The market for Social Office is still at the nascent stage and is pegged at Rs. 200 Cr. With an expected growth rate of 12% CAGR, we expect organizations to soon pick up the trend of Social office in the years to come. It has been a growth driver for us for the overall turnover of 1525Cr in 19-20 with an expected growth rate of 20% year on year”

In the office furniture segment, Kolkata contributes 35% to the brands overall eastern market revenue. While the brand currently has two Social Office experience centers across India, it plans to launch  three experience centers in the next one year. The company (office furniture segment) closed at 1005 Cr by Q3 and is expected to grow at 18% in 19-20 where the industry growth is 8-10%.

The beauty of the Social Office lies in its variety. The Social Office offers a right balance of ‘ME’ and ‘WE’ spaces -different types of work environments that employees can use as they please, to facilitate their work.
